What is CASS and Why Does It Matter?
CASS stands for Coding Accuracy Support System, a USPS program that verifies the accuracy of mailing addresses. To qualify for automation (discounted) postage rates, address lists must meet CASS standards—meaning every address is checked against the USPS database and includes an 11-digit ZIP code and barcode.

Why does that matter?
The difference between automation and non-automation postage is about 5 cents per piece. So on a 10,000-piece mailing, CASS certification could save you around $500—plus help ensure your mail actually gets where it’s going.
